Spending Thanksgiving in New York? Bring something homemade to the table. This hands-on class takes place at NY Cake, the family-run bakery and academy on West 22nd Street, just steps from the Flatiron Building. What began in 1991 in Joan Mansour’s home kitchen is now run by her daughters, and it’s still where New York’s bakers go to learn.

Your expert instructor will show you how to make flaky, golden pie dough from scratch and get it right every time. You’ll prepare warm, spiced fall fillings, then assemble your mini pies with crimped edges, woven lattice tops and seasonal cutouts. Finish them with an egg wash and a sprinkle of sugar before they go in the oven.

You’ll also pick up tips on freezing, reheating and gift packaging, so you’ll leave with pies that travel well and the skills to bake them again at home.
